James Gbandan Konzabre, aspirant for the NDC Upper East Regional Secretary position, has declared that the party’s grassroots mobilisation is firmly on course and has pledged to heal any divisions that may arise after the internal elections scheduled for mid-November 2026.
Speaking on the Bluewaves Breakfast Show, Konzabre said the party sometimes fails to adequately communicate its work to supporters on the ground. “Sometimes it appears that we do not market ourselves enough for the grassroots to appreciate what we are doing. But as far as I am concerned, our grassroots mobilisation efforts are on course,” he stated. He expressed confidence that once ordinary members fully understand the party’s activities, they will continue to deliver successive electoral victories.
Turning to the sensitive issue of post-election reconciliation, Konzabre described himself as a peace loving figure whom some call a “gentle Jack.” He revealed that he was among the first to publicly call for peaceful campaigning at all levels. “I encouraged my colleagues, and even those at the constituency and branch levels, to go about their campaign activities peacefully. They should remember that we are the same people,” he said.
Konzabre stressed that the contest must remain focused on ideas rather than personal attacks. “The campaign is not about us as individuals; it is about the party… When I go out there, I should tell people what I am capable of doing differently from my colleagues, not attack them.” He noted that delegates are discerning and often ignore negative campaigning.
He pointed to the cordial atmosphere already visible among candidates during the vetting process as an early signal that the election is “not a do-or-die affair.” Looking ahead to the vote on 14 or 15 November 2026, Konzabre expressed strong confidence in his own victory while making a clear commitment to unity regardless of the outcome.
“I expect the supporters of my other competitors to join us to push the party forward. But should the unlikely event happen and I do not make it, I expect myself and my supporters to do the same,” he said.
Konzabre’s remarks position him as a candidate prioritising both effective grassroots engagement and internal cohesion as the NDC prepares for its Upper East Regional Secretary election.
