The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to tackling irresponsible mining activities during a working visit to the Upper East Region.
The visit, which focused on the Talensi District, saw the Minister accompanied by a high-powered delegation from the Minerals Commission to assess ongoing mining operations in the area.
Addressing stakeholders, the Minister stressed the need for strict adherence to responsible mining practices, noting that the government remains resolute in its efforts to clamp down on all forms of illegal and environmentally harmful mining across the country.
He issued a strong caution to the management of Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited and Earl International Group Limited, urging them to operate within established environmental and safety standards.
“Mining activities must be conducted in a manner that protects the environment and ensures the safety of surrounding communities,” the Minister emphasized.
The inspection forms part of broader government efforts to promote sustainable mining while safeguarding the livelihoods and wellbeing of communities affected by extractive activities.
Authorities say continued monitoring and engagement with mining firms will be intensified to ensure compliance and accountability within the sector.
