A member of the Upper East Regional Communications Team of the National Democratic Congress, Micheal Abori, has launched a strong critique of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), claiming the party is increasingly losing relevance in the eyes of Ghanaians.
According to Mr. Abori, the NPP and its Minority in Parliament are becoming overly desperate for public attention, resorting to frequent media engagements in an attempt to regain public trust.
Speaking on the Bluewaves Breakfast Show on BlueWaves Radio 93.7 FM, Mr. Abori expressed concern over recent comments by the NPP on issues of sole sourcing. He questioned the basis of the opposition’s arguments, suggesting that their criticisms lack substance and are driven more by political strategy than national interest.
“Ghanaians no longer take the NPP seriously. They are now struggling to remain relevant, and at every little opportunity, they rush to the media just to capture attention,” he stated.
Mr. Abori further urged the NPP to be measured in its public commentary, emphasizing that national discourse should focus on issues that contribute to the country’s development rather than partisan rhetoric.
In a more strongly worded remark, he accused elements within the NPP of attempting to undermine the government, alleging that their actions are aimed at discrediting the current administration.
On development concerns, Mr. Abori acknowledged that progress in some sectors has been slow but assured residents of the Upper East Region that the NDC government remains committed to delivering on its promises.
He reiterated that despite current challenges, the government will not disappoint the people of the region and is working steadily to improve livelihoods and infrastructure.
