Focus on Quality, Not Contractors – Talensi NDC Secretary Urges Ghanaians

The Talensi Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Augustine Mmi-oni Guure, has called on Ghanaians to prioritise the quality of public projects over concerns about who is awarded government contracts.

Hon. Guure, who also serves as a member of the party’s Upper East Regional Communications Team, questioned the growing public focus on contract allocations, arguing that the real issue should be the standard of work delivered.

Speaking on the Bluewaves Breakfast Show on Wednesday, April 1, he stated that there is nothing inherently wrong with party members securing contracts under an NDC government, provided the work executed meets the expected standards.

“We should rather be talking about value for money and not who contracts are awarded to,” he emphasised.

Citing the Winkogo stretch of the Bolgatanga–Tamale road as an example, Hon. Guure noted that the road has been reconstructed multiple times, yet continues to deteriorate. He described the situation as worrying and indicative of poor workmanship.

According to him, repeated failures in infrastructure delivery highlight the need for strict quality control and accountability, rather than politicising contract awards.
