The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugre Atanga, has officially cut sod for the construction of modern boarding facilities at the Yameriga E-Block in the Talensi District, reaffirming government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education.
The project, which marks a significant upgrade of the existing E-Block, includes the construction of boys’ and girls’ dormitories, an administration block, dining hall and kitchen, six semi-detached staff bungalows, and a perimeter fence wall.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Atanga described the initiative as a clear demonstration of the government’s resolve to promote inclusive development and improve educational infrastructure across the country. He emphasized that the project aligns with the broader vision of John Dramani Mahama to ensure equitable access to quality secondary education.
According to the Minister, the transformation of the facility into a full boarding school with a projected capacity of 2,500 students will significantly enhance teaching and learning in the Talensi area and beyond.
He further noted that the intervention also reflects government’s appreciation to the people of Yameriga and the Talensi Constituency for their overwhelming support during the 2024 general elections.
Hon. Atanga called on community members to support contractors and consultants to ensure smooth and timely execution of the project.
The sod-cutting ceremony attracted traditional authorities, political leaders, and key stakeholders within the district.
