Builsa Youth Urge Inclusion of Abandoned Chuchuliga–Sandema–Fumbisi–Wiesi Road Project in 2026 Budget

Youth from the Builsa area are urging President John Dramani Mahama and his government to include the abandoned Chuchuliga–Sandema–Fumbisi–Wiesi Road Project in the 2026 National Budget. They describe this road as a critical priority for the socio-economic development of the Builsa area.

In a statement signed by the acting leadership of the Builsa Youth for Development (BYD), the group expressed concern that the contractor has left the project abandoned for several months, resulting in poor conditions for the road.

While acknowledging the ongoing national development efforts, BYD reminded President Mahama of his campaign promise to complete the road project—a commitment they believe holds significant economic and social value for the people of Builsa.

“This project is not only a campaign promise but also a lifeline for the economic and social transformation of our area. Unfortunately, the contractor has abandoned the site, leaving the project in an unacceptable state of stagnation,” the statement read.

The youth lamented that the deteriorating road network continues to impact transportation, limit trade, and disrupt access to essential services such as healthcare and education. They noted that these challenges have increased frustrations among residents who have “waited patiently for far too long.”

As preparations for the 2026 National Budget move forward, BYD has called on the Minister of Finance to prioritize the road and allocate adequate funding for its immediate continuation and completion. The group emphasized that the people of Builsa deserve equitable development, comparable to other parts of Ghana.

“Development is not a privilege; it is our constitutional right. The people of Builsa are watching closely, and we expect actions that match the promises made to us.”

The statement concluded with BYD reaffirming its commitment to advocating for transparency, accountability, and balanced national development, urging the government to demonstrate its commitment through concrete actions.
