Talensi, Upper East Region — The Member of Parliament for the Talensi Constituency, *Hon. Daniel Dung Mahama, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare delivery and public service in the district with a major donation of medical equipment and consumables valued at over *GHS 300,000 to the Talensi District Hospital and other health centres across the district.
The donation included an oxygen concentrator, wheelchairs, electric hospital beds, standard beds and mattresses, oxygen cylinders, sterile examination gloves, absorbent towels, delivery beds, iodine solutions, hand-cleaner gel, umbilical vessel catheter trays, thermometer probe covers, trays, and several boxes of assorted medical consumables.
Presenting the items, Hon. Mahama underscored the critical importance of the equipment—particularly the oxygen concentrator—to emergency and routine healthcare delivery. He explained that the decision to procure the concentrator was inspired by a personal experience involving his late mother, whose life was sustained for a period through oxygen support at a hospital in Accra.
“From that experience, I resolved to ensure that such life-saving equipment is available here in Talensi,” the MP said. “The oxygen concentrator can be powered by electricity and used even when oxygen gas is unavailable, helping to save lives. No resident should have to travel outside the district in search of basic but critical medical care.”
He urged beneficiary facilities to put the items to effective use, stressing that accountability and impact would justify his continued support and future interventions.
The donation was made through the *Talensi District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. John Millim Nabwomya, and the Talensi District Health Director, and formally received by the Talensi District Hospital Administrator.

Expressing appreciation, the DCE and the District Health Director described the donation as timely and crucial, noting that it would significantly ease operational challenges faced by healthcare providers and improve service delivery to residents of Talensi and surrounding communities.
Following the health-sector engagement, Hon. Mahama—accompanied by the DCE, Talensi District Education Director Madam Christiana Ayinzoya, and constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)—proceeded to the Talensi District Fire Service Station, where he made an additional donation of *16 mattresses and a 55-inch plasma television set. The items were provided in response to an earlier request from the station to improve working and resting conditions for personnel.
The MP acknowledged other pressing challenges confronting the Fire Service and pledged to collaborate with central government and relevant stakeholders to address them.
Hon. Mahama also undertook other parliamentary and constituency engagements during the day, with details of those activities expected to be published subsequently.
Overall, the MP’s engagements were described by stakeholders as productive and impactful, drawing strong support from district authorities and party leadership, led by the DCE and Constituency Chairman, Hon. John Millim Nabwomya.
