“It’s a Collective Effort to Keep Our Environment Clean” – District Chief Executive for Talensi

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Talensi, Hon. John Millim Nabwomya, has underscored the importance of communal involvement in preserving a clean environment, reflecting a shared commitment to sanitation and public health.

In line with the presidential directive designating the first Saturday of every month as National Sanitation Day, Ghanaians are urged to roll up their sleeves and participate actively in cleaning their neighborhoods and public spaces.

In the heart of the Talensi District, this day takes on added significance, providing an opportunity for residents to maintain and enhance their surroundings. Leading by example, Hon. Nabwomya joined the people of Pwalugu in a spirited cleanup exercise targeting the bustling marketplace and its immediate environs. The sight of community members coming together—armed with brooms, trash bags, and a shared determination—fostered a sense of unity and purpose.

After the exercise, Hon. Nabwomya expressed heartfelt appreciation to the residents for their active participation. He emphasized the need for cleanliness to become a daily habit rather than a monthly obligation. “Cleanliness is next to Godliness,” he reminded participants, stressing that maintaining a clean environment is a fundamental duty for everyone.

In addition to the cleanup efforts, the DCE revealed plans to further improve sanitation across the district. He announced forthcoming initiatives to construct toilet facilities in communities that currently lack such essential amenities. This strategic intervention, he said, forms part of a broader mission to ensure that every community under his jurisdiction is free from waste and disease.

Hon. Nabwomya also urged landlords and landladies to prioritize the inclusion of toilet facilities when constructing houses, highlighting the crucial role these amenities play in safeguarding tenants’ health and preventing diseases such as typhoid fever.

Through these initiatives, the DCE aims not only to address immediate sanitation challenges but also to lay a solid foundation for healthier and more sustainable living conditions for all residents of Talensi.
