Upper East NPP Youth Organiser Urges Delegates to Rally Behind Dr. Bawumia Ahead of January 31 Primaries

The Upper East Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), *Mr. Salahu-Deen Musah, has called on delegates in the region to throw their full support behind **Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, in the party’s upcoming presidential primaries scheduled for *January 31.

According to Mr. Salahu-Deen, Dr. Bawumia remains the most credible and prepared candidate to lead the NPP into the next general elections, citing both party tradition and the former Vice President’s leadership credentials.

Speaking on BlueWaves Radio’s Breakfast Show, the Regional Youth Organiser noted that the NPP has a long-standing tradition of maintaining confidence in its candidates until electoral victory is achieved. He argued that this historical approach has served the party well in the past and should not be abandoned at this critical stage.

“When you look at the history of the New Patriotic Party, we have always stood by our candidates until we win power. There is no justification to change a candidate who has already been tested and understands the system,” Mr. Salahu-Deen stated.

He further asserted that when compared with other aspirants in the race, Dr. Bawumia “stands tall” in terms of vision, competence, and national appeal. According to him, Dr. Bawumia’s economic and governance ideas continue to shape national discourse, adding that even the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration is governing with policies and initiatives rooted in ideas previously championed by Dr. Bawumia.

Mr. Salahu-Deen also used the platform to appeal for unity among party members, especially supporters of other aspirants, stressing that internal cohesion is critical to the NPP’s reorganisation and future electoral success.

“After the primaries, we must all make peace with one another. Unity is key if the party is to reorganise and position itself strongly for the future,” he urged.

He concluded by encouraging delegates in the Upper East Region to consider the broader interests of the party and the nation when casting their votes, emphasizing that a united front behind Dr. Bawumia would strengthen the NPP’s chances in the next general elections.
