The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Hon. Isaac Adongo, has demonstrated his continued commitment to youth development and promotion of peaceful coexistence among his constituents by sponsoring the Ramadan Soccer Fiesta – Eidul-Adha Edition, a football tournament featuring eight community teams across the constituency that qualified from the Eid ul fitr tournament he sponsored some two months ago.
As part of his support package, Hon. Adongo provided appearance fees of ₵1,000 to each participating team, amounting to ₵8,000. He also supplied one football to each team to facilitate participation in the competition.
In addition, the MP donated complete sets of jerseys to the semi-finalist teams and provided ₵5,000 to support the organization and management of the tournament. Another ₵5,000 was allocated for officiating expenses to ensure smooth and professional conduct of matches.
To reward outstanding performances, the tournament champions received a cash prize of ₵3,000, while the runners-up were awarded ₵2,000.
Overall, Hon. Adongo’s sponsorship package amounted to ₵23,000 in direct financial support, excluding the footballs and jerseys provided to participating teams.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Adongo emphasized the importance of sports in promoting unity, discipline, and youth empowerment. He noted that the tournament was designed not only to celebrate the Ramadan and Eidul-Adha festivities but also to create opportunities for young footballers to showcase their talents and strengthen community bonds.
The Ramadan Soccer Fiesta attracted hundreds of spectators, players, and community members, creating an atmosphere of excitement, healthy competition, and cultural celebration. The event further highlighted the role of sports as a catalyst for social cohesion and youth development within the Bolgatanga Central Constituency.
