The President of Regentropfen University College, Rev. Dr. Moses Asaah Awinongya, has reiterated the institution’s commitment to providing quality education and practical skills to help address the growing demand for skilled professionals in Ghana.
Speaking on the BlueWaves Breakfast Show, Rev. Dr. Asaah Awinongya said the university was established with the broader objective of making education accessible to the general public, particularly in areas including health, general education and agriculture.
According to him, Regentropfen University College is not only focused on training graduates for employment in the public sector but also seeks to equip students with practical skills that can enable them to create employment opportunities for themselves.
He noted that the public sector has limited employment opportunities, making it necessary for educational institutions to prepare graduates to become self-reliant and competitive in the private sector.
“We have to train individuals not only to look for jobs in the public sector, but also to acquire skills that can help them create employment for themselves,” he explained.
He said the university therefore offers programmes including Business and Development Studies, while entrepreneurship remains an important component of the institution’s academic and skills-development agenda.
Rev. Dr. Asaah Awinongya disclosed that every Friday is dedicated to an entrepreneurship forum, where students are exposed to ideas and practical knowledge intended to improve their ability to establish and manage businesses or work effectively with organisations and companies.
He explained that the initiative forms part of the university’s broader effort to produce graduates who can contribute meaningfully to national development rather than depend solely on government employment.
President Dismisses Claims Over Accreditation
The university president also addressed what he described as misinformation being circulated about the institution, particularly claims that some of its health-related programmes are not accredited.
Rev. Dr. Asaah Awinongya rejected the allegations, describing them as false, and urged members of the public to seek accurate information about the institution and its programmes from the appropriate authorities rather than relying on rumours.
He further called on stakeholders in the Upper East Region to support institutions and initiatives that are contributing to the development of the region, while putting aside partisan political considerations when issues of education and youth development arise.
According to him, the region must create an environment that encourages young people to acquire skills, work hard and contribute to the development of their communities.
He cautioned that if young people from the region leave for other parts of the country in search of opportunities and are not adequately supported to return and contribute to their home region, the region could lose valuable human resources.
Rev. Dr. Asaah Awinongya therefore appealed for collective efforts towards the development of the people of the Upper East Region, stressing the need for stakeholders to prioritise education, skills development, entrepreneurship and opportunities for the youth.
10th Anniversary Celebration
The President also announced that October 10, 2026, will mark the climax of activities commemorating the 10th anniversary of Regentropfen University College.
He said the anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on the institution’s journey, achievements and contribution to education and skills development, while looking ahead to its future role in national development.
He reiterated the institution’s commitment to equipping students with knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to contribute effectively to society, whether through formal employment, entrepreneurship or other professional opportunities.
