NDC Aspirant Vows to Defend All 15 Seats, Declares “2028 Will Be Easy”

James Gbandan Konzabre files for Regional Secretary, citing decades of grassroots service and TEIN leadership
Konzabre has thrown his hat into the ring for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Regional Secretary position with a bold message; the party’s hard won 15 parliamentary seats will be retained in 2028 and he is the man to help make it happen.
Speaking after filing his nomination at the party’s Regional Office in the JD Mahama Office Complex, Zuarungu, Konzabre projected quiet confidence. “It is left to the delegates to decide. But I know who I am, and I know that the delegates also understand who I am,” he said. “As far as this race and this position are concerned, I am confident that if they are truly looking for a secretary who can lead the affairs of the party, they will make the right choice.”
The longtime party loyalist, who has worked within NDC structures since 1996, positioned himself as a battle-tested organiser rather than a newcomer seeking elevation. He currently serves as Regional Coordinator for the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), a role he has held continuously since 2010. Before that, he served as a branch secretary, zonal and constituency coordinator, campaign team member, and collation agent in four consecutive elections.
“Remember, as secretary you do a lot of work and handle a variety of responsibilities. The person who holds the position also matters, your integrity, your honesty, and your ability,” Konzabre told party faithful. “I see myself as well suited for this position.”
His most striking claim came on the road to 2028. While many within the party acknowledge the next election will be fiercely contested, Konzabre rejected any notion of difficulty. “You say 2028 will not be easy, but I think 2028 will be easy. 2024 was not easy, yet it became easy for us,” he declared.
He credited the TEIN structure with a relentless student mobilisation strategy that left “no stone unturned.” “We campaigned as if we were mad for the cause,” he said. “In the last two years, our message was that we needed to win 15 out of 15, and we did exactly that. Consolidating those 15 constituencies should not be a problem at all.”
Konzabre stopped short of revealing detailed plans, but offered a firm assurance: “What I can assure you is that the 15 seats will be retained, especially if I am the Regional Secretary.”
Even in the event of defeat, he pledged continued loyalty. “Even in the unlikely event that I do not make it, I am still ready to work to ensure we retain 15 over 15. But I know, Insha Allah, by the will of God, I will be the next Regional Secretary.”
With decades of party service, a long record in TEIN, and an unapologetic focus on defending every seat, Konzabre has framed his candidacy as both a reward for past contribution and a strategic necessity for the battles ahead. Delegates will now decide whether his brand of experienced, energetic organisation is what the region needs.
