“I Am the Chief Commander for the Youth” — Clement Anabire Files for Upper East NDC Vice Chair.

Veteran cadre vows to make the party irresistible to young people and deliver policies that change lives
Clement Akasoba Anabire has formally entered the race for Upper East Regional Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, presenting himself as a lifelong cadre with the vision, experience, and youthful energy needed to transform the party’s appeal.
Speaking after submitting his nomination at the NDC Regional Office in the JD Mahama Office Complex on Thursday, Anabire rooted his candidacy in more than three decades of unbroken service. “I have been an activist, and from the revolution up to now, I have been a committed cadre,” he told party faithful. “We started when I was very young, as a democratic youth organisation. We later moved into political parties, and the NDC was formed in 1992. I was part of it.”
He traced his journey from grassroots branch secretary to successive leadership roles, describing himself as someone who has “worn the green” and never left the trenches. Currently serving as a patron of both the communication wing and the youth working committee, Anabire said his focus remains firmly on the next generation.
“I stand with the youth,” he declared. “The Youth Organiser and his or her deputies will find in me a commander and ally. I am a chief commander because I know that to make the NDC very attractive, we must make the youth interested in what we are doing. I am the one who can do that.”
Beyond mobilisation, Anabire framed the vice chairmanship as a platform for real change. “Politics is not just about votes. What do you bring that can make societal values change?” he asked. “Among all those who are going to contest, it is I, Clement Akasoba Anabire, who has the ideas, the vision, and the clarity to ensure that policies that respond to the needs and benefits of the people of the Upper East Region come to bear.”
He pledged to operate as a team player, working closely with fellow regional executives to elevate the NDC’s standing. “I will work with my colleagues… to make the NDC the most attractive party, not only in the Upper East but in the world.”
With a record that stretches from the revolutionary era to today’s youth structures, Anabire has cast himself as both institutional memory and forward-looking strategist. Delegates will soon decide whether his blend of experience, youth advocacy, and policy ambition is what the Upper East NDC needs next.
