Talensi MP and DCE Commission Four-Classroom Block for Tongo Senior High Technical School

The Member of Parliament for Talensi, Daniel Dung Mahama, together with the District Chief Executive, John Millim Nabwomya, has commissioned a newly constructed four-classroom block for Tongo Senior High Technical School in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region.

The project forms part of the SOCO developmental initiatives aimed at improving educational infrastructure across the district.

Tongo Senior High Technical School, like many other senior high technical institutions across the country, has been grappling with serious infrastructure challenges, which have affected effective teaching and learning. The newly completed classroom block is therefore expected to significantly ease congestion and provide a more conducive environment for both students and teachers.

Speaking to the media during the commissioning ceremony, the Talensi District Director of the Ghana Education Service, Christiana Ayinzoya, who represented the school management, expressed profound appreciation to the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive for the successful completion of the project.

According to her, the new facility will go a long way to improve academic work in the school.

“We are very grateful to the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive for this timely intervention. This classroom block will greatly help reduce pressure on existing facilities and enhance effective teaching and learning,” she said.

She further appealed to both leaders to continue supporting the school with additional infrastructure to address the growing needs of the institution.

The District Chief Executive, Mr. John Millim Nabwomya, in his remarks, urged the school authorities, staff, and students to treat the new facility as their own property and ensure it is properly maintained.

He stressed the importance of cultivating a strong maintenance culture to preserve public infrastructure.

“Government and the Assembly are committed to improving educational facilities in the district, but it is equally important for beneficiaries to protect these properties so that they can serve many generations,” he stated.

Mr. Nabwomya also assured the school management of the Assembly’s continued support in addressing other developmental needs of the institution.

For his part, the Member of Parliament for Talensi, Hon. Daniel Dung Mahama, reiterated his commitment to the development of education in the district. He pledged to use his position in Parliament to lobby for more infrastructure projects for Tongo Senior High Technical School.

He noted that investing in education remains one of the most effective ways to empower the youth and promote sustainable development in the district.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by school authorities, traditional leaders, assembly members, students, and members of the local community, who welcomed the project as a major step toward improving educational infrastructure in the area.
