New CHPS Compound Commissioned at Tindongo to Support Healthcare Delivery in the Talensi District

A newly constructed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound has been commissioned at Tindongo in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region to improve access to primary healthcare services for residents.

The facility was commissioned by the Member of Parliament for Talensi, Daniel Dung Mahama, together with the District Chief Executive, John Millim Nabwomya, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in rural communities across the district.

The new CHPS compound is expected to bring essential health services closer to the people of Kpatia and surrounding communities, reducing the distance residents previously had to travel to access basic medical care.

Speaking to the media after the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Daniel Dung Mahama expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the project, describing it as a significant step toward improving primary healthcare in the district.

According to him, CHPS compounds remain a critical component of Ghana’s healthcare system as they help deliver preventive and basic curative services directly to communities.

“Healthcare delivery begins at the community level, and CHPS compounds play a vital role in ensuring that our people receive timely medical attention. This facility will greatly benefit the people of Kpatia and surrounding communities,” he stated.

The Member of Parliament further reiterated his commitment to continue advocating for more healthcare infrastructure and resources to improve the wellbeing of residents in the Talensi District.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. John Millim Nabwomya, also expressed joy at the successful completion of the project, noting that the Assembly remains committed to improving healthcare access across the district.

He urged residents of the community to take ownership of the facility and ensure that it is properly maintained to serve both present and future generations.

“This facility belongs to the people of Kpatia, and it is important that we all work together to protect it and ensure it is used for the intended purpose of improving healthcare delivery in the community,” he said.

On her part, the Talensi District Director of the Ghana Health Service, Juliana Akugre Anam-Erime, expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive for supporting the health directorate’s efforts to expand healthcare services in the district.

She noted that the new CHPS compound would help bring healthcare services closer to the people, particularly women and children who often require regular medical attention.

Madam Anam-Erime assured the community that health personnel assigned to the facility would work diligently to provide quality healthcare services and promote preventive health practices.

Residents of Kpatia and surrounding communities welcomed the commissioning of the facility, describing it as a major relief that would help improve access to healthcare and reduce pressure on other health facilities within the district.
