The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, as well as Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency, Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has cut sod for the construction of an ultramodern police station in the constituency, marking a significant step toward strengthening security and justice delivery in the area.
The project, which is expected to enhance policing capacity, will include modern office spaces, residential bungalows for police personnel, and a dedicated library facility for inmates. The inclusion of a library is aimed at promoting rehabilitation, education, and reformation among detainees, reflecting a progressive approach to justice administration.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, Dr. Ayeni emphasized the importance of improving both security infrastructure and correctional services, noting that effective law enforcement must go hand-in-hand with opportunities for personal reform.
“This project is not only about strengthening security presence in our communities but also about restoring dignity and providing a second chance for those who come into conflict with the law,” he stated.
In a broader development agenda, the MP announced that a total of fifteen (15) projects have been awarded to contractors for immediate commencement across the Bolgatanga East Constituency. These projects span critical sectors such as education and healthcare, underscoring government’s commitment to holistic development.
Among the key interventions in the education sector are major upgrades at Gambibgo Community Day Senior High School and Zuarungu Senior High School. The two institutions are set to benefit from the construction of ultramodern science laboratories, dining halls, and teachers’ bungalows.
According to Dr. Ayeni, these facilities are designed to improve teaching and learning conditions, particularly in science education, while also addressing accommodation challenges faced by teachers.
He noted that investing in educational infrastructure remains central to his vision of empowering the youth and improving academic outcomes in the constituency.
“The future of this constituency depends on the quality of education we provide today. These projects are intended to create an enabling environment for both students and teachers to excel,” he added.
The announcement of the projects has been widely welcomed by residents and stakeholders, who see the initiative as a major boost to development in the area.
Community members expressed optimism that the timely execution of the projects will not only improve security and education but also contribute to overall socio-economic growth in Bolgatanga East.
The projects are expected to commence immediately, with contractors urged to adhere to high standards and complete the works within schedule.
