
The District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East, Hon. Jacob Abugri Aka-Eri, has commended the government for bringing the vision of the 24-Hour Economy Market initiative to life following the official sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a modern 24-Hour Market in the district.
The sod-cutting exercise, which marked the commencement of the project, was led by the Upper East Regional Minister together with district authorities, traditional leaders, party executives and community members.
Speaking during the ceremony, Hon. Jacob Abugri Aka-Eri praised the government led by President H.E. John Dramani Mahama for what he described as a transformative and people-centered initiative aimed at boosting economic activities, creating jobs and improving livelihoods across the country.
According to the DCE, the establishment of the 24-Hour Market in the Bolgatanga East District will provide traders, farmers, artisans and small-scale business owners with a modern and reliable trading environment capable of supporting economic activities beyond the traditional market hours.
He noted that the project forms part of broader efforts by the government to strengthen local economies and promote inclusive development through the 24-hour economy policy.
Hon. Abugri Aka-Eri further stated that the initiative would not only stimulate commercial activities within the district but also attract investment opportunities and enhance internally generated revenue for the assembly.
He expressed appreciation to the government and the Upper East Regional Minister for ensuring that Bolgatanga East benefits from the flagship initiative, adding that the district stands ready to support the successful implementation of the project.
The Upper East Regional Minister, in his remarks, emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering development projects that directly impact the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.
He explained that the 24-Hour Market initiative is expected to create employment opportunities for the youth while improving market infrastructure and promoting business growth in the region.
Traditional authorities and residents who attended the ceremony welcomed the project and expressed optimism that the market would contribute significantly to economic transformation in the district.
The construction of the market is expected to enhance trade and commercial activities in Bolgatanga East and surrounding communities when completed.
