Upper East Regional Director, Operations Manager, PR Manager and NHIA Team Intensify Simultaneous Market Outreach Across All Three Zones

The Upper East Regional Directorate of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has intensified its public engagement and sensitization drive with a massive simultaneous market outreach campaign across the Western, Eastern and Central zones of the region.
The campaign, led by the Upper East Regional Director, Dr. Salifu Kombat, the Acting Operations Manager, Mr. Collins Anafure, and the Regional Public Relations Manager, Mr. Alhassan Suwaidu, forms part of efforts to bring NHIA services closer to the people while deepening awareness of the government’s Free Primary Health Care Policy and the ongoing free registration and renewal waiver exercise.
The regional outreach exercise, which runs from May 15 to May 31, 2026, is aimed at encouraging residents to take advantage of the free NHIS registration and renewal period before the deadline.
According to the NHIA team, the campaign is designed not only to increase active membership but also to strengthen public confidence and engagement with the National Health Insurance Scheme across the Upper East Region.
A major highlight of the campaign was the engagement with the Pusiga Paramount Chief, Naba Tambiis-Baaluk-Kunwiak Ibrahim Aguuri I, who welcomed the NHIA delegation and offered his blessings for the exercise.
The Paramount Chief commended the Authority for its commitment to bringing healthcare enrollment services directly to the people and encouraged the team to continue its sensitization activities in communities throughout the region.
The market storm at Guru Market drew massive crowds as traders, transport operators, students and residents gathered to interact with officials of the Authority. The atmosphere was lively and highly engaging as residents sought information on registration, renewal and healthcare benefits under the Scheme.
Addressing the gathering, Acting Operations Manager Mr. Collins Anafure urged the public to take the exercise seriously and avoid waiting until the final days before registering or renewing their NHIS cards.
He noted that the waiver period presents a significant opportunity for residents, particularly vulnerable groups, to access healthcare services without financial difficulty.
The outreach campaign also moved to the Bawku Municipality, where the NHIA team engaged market women, students, opinion leaders and other stakeholders, including the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bawku.
The team later paid a courtesy call on the MCE and presented souvenirs to him as a symbol of partnership and collaboration. The MCE pledged his continued support and commitment towards the successful implementation of NHIA policies and activities within the municipality.
The campaign further extended to the Zebilla Market, where residents were educated on the importance of active NHIS membership and the benefits associated with the Free Primary Health Care Policy.
Officials say the simultaneous market storm exercise across all three zones demonstrates the Authority’s commitment to ensuring that no resident is left behind in accessing quality healthcare services.
The Upper East Regional NHIA Directorate has therefore appealed to residents to take advantage of the free registration and renewal waiver before the exercise officially ends on May 31, 2026.
