Upper East Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Edmund Bombande, has appealed to supporters of Alan’s breakaway group to return to the NPP, arguing that sticking with a new party could mean waiting “a hundred years” to taste power.
Speaking on the Bluewaves Breakfast Show, Bombande insisted that no one forced Alan out of the party. “Nobody sacked Alan. They went into contest, it was free and fair and after that he decided that looking at the way things are going he’s not happy… So he decided that he was breaking away to form his own party.”
He stressed that every single vote matters in Ghanaian politics. “For us, everybody is important. Because one vote is very important to every political party.”
Bombande said the NPP is actively engaging those who followed Alan, urging them to “come and join the winning team” rather than remain in a party where victory is uncertain. “It is better you come back to your mother party to work with us so that by the grace of God, we can win and if we win it’s all of us who are winning.”
While acknowledging the party is “not happy that Alan has left,” Bombande made it clear no one can be forced to stay. However, he left the door wide open for a possible return: “If he decides any day that he wants to come back to NPP… I think NPP will welcome him because we did not sack him. We didn’t ask him to go. He decided.”
The message was clear the NPP wants its people back, one vote at a time.
