Adongo Prosper Launches Bid for Upper East Regional Youth Organizer, Pledges Mentorship and Better Information Flow

Adongo Prosper has officially launched his campaign for the position of Upper East Regional Youth Organizer, pledging to tackle youth unemployment, improve access to opportunities, and prioritise intentional leadership training and mentorship.
Speaking on the Bluewaves Breakfast Show, Prosper said many young people in the region remain unprepared for the job market because they lack both skills and timely information. He pointed to programmes such as the National Apprenticeship Programme and Youth Employment initiatives, noting that by the time many young people learn about openings, applications have already closed.
“Information flow is a major challenge for the youth. We can do more to improve it,” he said, urging supporters to actively share opportunities with those around them.
Prosper announced that he had already engaged most youth organisers across the region and received positive feedback. He said his campaign would focus on conscious and intentional mentoring, leadership training, and youth empowerment, citing the late Kofi Annan’s reminder that “you are not too young to lead.”
He highlighted the potential of young people working at tailings stations and argued that deliberate mentorship could help build a stronger future for the region. On competition within the race, Prosper described his relationship with other aspirants as cordial.
“Honestly, we are good friends. But this is about your interest, my interest, and his interest. We are going to tell our stories,” he said. “I am going to tell my story. I am going to preach the Constitution and the organisation, and why I need to be voted for.”
Prosper argued that he is well positioned for the role because the party needs to approach challenges differently. He identified youth unemployment as the top problem facing the party in the Upper East Region, while acknowledging government efforts through recruitment into the security services and expansions at institutions such as the National Youth Authority, NEiP, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He specifically praised the recruitment work of Malik Basintane and noted that many districts now have EPA offices that have created jobs for young men and women.
To demonstrate his commitment, Prosper pointed to his work in Navrongo. After organising a youth workshop, he bought and distributed 108 footballs to branches after realising football brought young people together. He also organised house-to-house campaigns ahead of the 2020 elections and repeated the approach in 2024, focusing on areas where the party was weaker.
“That shows how committed I am to the youth wing,” he said. “That is why I want to challenge myself and increase the vote margins in the various constituencies in the region, and for that matter, help position the party toward 2028.”
Prosper’s campaign now moves forward as he seeks the support of delegates across the Upper East Region.
