Vitus Akoligeya Apana Declares Intention to Contest NDC Constituency Youth Organizer Position in Bolgatanga East

Bolgatanga East, Upper East Region — September 16, 2026:
Vitus Akoligeya Apana has officially declared his intention to contest the position of Constituency Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bolgatanga East Constituency ahead of the party’s upcoming constituency executive elections.

In a statement dated September 16, 2026, Mr. Apana described his decision as a response to what he considers a call to duty, saying he intends to bring his experience, energy and organisational skills to the service of the NDC’s youth wing in the constituency.

He identified himself as a member of the NDC in good standing at the Atugrebisi Polling Station in the Zuarungu-North Electoral Area.

Leadership Experience

Mr. Apana highlighted what he described as a leadership journey rooted in grassroots and student leadership.

According to him, his leadership experience began with his service as Assistant Boys Prefect at Zuarungu Primary School before becoming Senior Boys Prefect at Adukrah JHS.

He subsequently served as Public Relations Officer of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at St. John Bosco College of Education and later as Communications Officer for the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

He also cited recognition received during his time in campus politics and communication, including the Student Politician of the Year award in the 2023/2024 academic year, which he said was presented through TEIN, BONABOTO and ASSENS-UEW.

Experience Within the NDC

Mr. Apana also pointed to several positions he has held within the NDC as part of his justification for seeking the constituency-level position.

He said he has served two terms as Branch Youth Organizer for Atugrebisi, a role he credits with giving him practical experience in grassroots mobilisation.

He further served as Ward Secretary for Zuarungu-North and said he was a member of the Upper East Regional Communications Team for five years.

According to his declaration, he also served on the Regional Communications Working Committee and the Regional Elections Supervisory Committee, where he said he contributed to the party’s communication activities and electoral processes.

At the national level, Mr. Apana said he served as National Communications Officer for the Bring Mahama Back Movement (BMB), a political movement that campaigned for the return of former President John Dramani Mahama.

Three-Pillar Agenda

If elected, Mr. Apana said his leadership would focus on three key areas: remobilisation, empowerment and strategic communication.

Under remobilisation, he said he would seek to rekindle the spirit of volunteerism among the party’s youth.

On empowerment, he said his objective would be to move beyond rhetoric and ensure that young party members are meaningfully engaged and positioned to contribute to the development of the constituency.

He also identified strategic communication as a key priority, with the aim of strengthening the voice and visibility of young people within the constituency and beyond.

Mr. Apana said his experience at the branch, ward, regional and national levels had given him an understanding of the structures and concerns of the party at different levels.

“I understand the pain of the branch, the aspirations of the ward, and the vision of the constituency,” he stated.

He subsequently appealed to party members for their prayers, counsel and support as he seeks the NDC’s mandate to serve as Constituency Youth Organizer for Bolgatanga East.

He concluded his declaration by calling for unity and service, extending greetings to the NDC, the people of Bolgatanga East Constituency and Ghana.
