Mama Caro Pledges “Woman Organizer for All” as She Files for Upper East NDC Regional Women Organizer

Carolina Kurugu, popularly known as Mama Caro, has formally thrown her hat into the ring for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Regional Women Organizer position, declaring she will be a “Woman Organizer for All.”
Speaking shortly after filing her nomination at the party’s Regional Office, Mama Caro painted a clear vision centered on unity, resource access, and practical support for women and their children across the region.
“What I have for the women of the Upper East, especially the NDC women’s wing, is unity,” she said. “Whether young or old, we will be united and work as a united force. They say ‘united, we rebuild.’ Once we are united, we can come together and seek what we deserve, what is rightfully ours.”
Mama Caro stressed humility and collaboration as the pathway to unlocking resources. She pledged to work closely with the Regional Chairman, other executives, Members of Parliament, District Chief Executives, and ministers to secure funding for women.
She specifically highlighted existing government schemes such as MASLOC and GETFund. “Many of our women are struggling to pay school fees for their children,” she noted. “If we liaise with the authorities, dialogue properly, and negotiate, we can get advantages from GETFund to support the fees of our children. What do mothers want more than knowing their children’s school fees are paid?”
Beyond government support, she promised to engage NGOs and both Christian and Muslim organizations to deliver targeted help, farm equipment and fertilizer for some, education support for others, recognizing that “everyone has their own priority area.”
Capacity building and better organization also feature prominently in her plans. Mama Caro said she would form smaller groups to train women in leadership so they can effectively mobilize their constituencies and branches. She further intends to create a database of women across the region to identify skills, opportunities, and children who need a push into higher education or vocational training.
“Some of their children just need a push,” she explained. “He comes home and says he did not pass, meanwhile he has passed. He can do a diploma in ICT or electrical engineering… As Regional Women Organizer, if I am in touch with my people, I can say, ‘Bring these children, give me their certificates, let me see.’”
With a slogan of “Woman Organizer for All,” Mama Caro closed her remarks by emphasizing that much work lies ahead. Her candidacy adds energy to the contest for the influential women’s wing role in the Upper East NDC.
