Former NDC Talensi Chairman Ayamboya Adongo George Launches Comeback Bid, Promises a “Better Second Coming”

Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman Hon. Ayamboya Adongo George has launched a determined bid to reclaim the position, campaigning under the slogan “Unity, Service, Progress” and pitching what he calls a “better second coming.”
George, who previously led the constituency from 2018 until he was voted out, is asking party delegates for a fresh opportunity to return to the role. In a detailed address to constituents and party faithful, he reflected on his earlier tenure and outlined lessons learned during his time away from office.
He reminded supporters that upon first taking the chairmanship, he prioritised consulting party elders and moved to heal divisions after a contested election. One of his early initiatives was a Constituency Unity Party held at the Pusu-Namogu Farmers Centre, aimed at bringing former rivals together for the good of the party.
George placed strong emphasis on the personal sacrifices he made for members’ welfare. He revealed that he frequently used his own pickup truck, covering fuel and maintenance costs himself, to transport deceased comrades to their hometowns. The demands of that service, he said, left both of his vehicles largely grounded, yet he expressed no regret for putting the party first. He also led the Welfare Committee on hospital visits across Bawku, Bolgatanga and Tamale.
Acknowledging that “no leader is perfect,” the former chairman described his previous administration as open, inclusive and team-based. He said the leadership remained committed to hard work, sacrifice and correcting shortcomings despite the challenges that eventually led to his removal.
Now seeking a return, George framed his campaign as a chance to apply those lessons. “I have learned from the past, built on the successes, and reflected on the challenges,” he stated. “With your renewed confidence, I will bring greater energy, stronger unity, improved branch level welfare, broader consultation and a more effective team-oriented leadership to the constituency.”
He closed by presenting his bid as a contract grounded in trust, unity, sacrifice, accountability and results, ending with the traditional party call: “Long live the National Democratic Congress. Long live our constituency. Long live our comrades.”
Delegates in Talensi will decide whether the former chairman’s record of service and promise of a stronger second term will earn him a return to office.
