The District Health Director for Bolgatanga East, Madam Maria Mahama, has called on residents of Dubila and Pologu communities to patronize the two newly commissioned Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds to improve access to healthcare and promote better health outcomes in the district.
She made the appeal during the commissioning of the two health facilities, which were officially inaugurated by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bolgatanga East, Hon. Jacob Abugre Aka-Eri, in collaboration with the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) Project, represented by its Zonal Coordinator, Mr Samuel Agyarko Larbi.
Madam Mahama emphasised that the availability of the facilities within the communities presents an important opportunity for residents to access basic healthcare services without necessarily travelling long distances to other health facilities.
She encouraged community members to make regular use of the CHPS compounds whenever they require medical attention, rather than waiting until health conditions deteriorate before seeking professional care.

According to her, the facilities are expected to strengthen primary healthcare delivery through improved access to preventive healthcare, maternal and child health services, health education, early detection of diseases and treatment of common illnesses.
She further urged residents to cooperate with health personnel, participate in community health programmes and seek timely medical attention to help reduce preventable illnesses and improve the general health status of the communities.
The two facilities are expected to bring essential healthcare services closer to residents of Dubila, Pologu and their surrounding communities, particularly pregnant women, children, older persons and other vulnerable groups who often face challenges accessing healthcare.
The commissioning ceremony also highlighted the importance of collaboration between government institutions, development partners and local communities in addressing infrastructure gaps within the healthcare sector.
The DCE, Hon. Jacob Abugre Aka-Eri, described the facilities as an important addition to the district’s healthcare infrastructure and urged residents to take ownership of the projects and ensure their proper maintenance.
He noted that the CHPS compounds would contribute to strengthening primary healthcare delivery and support the government’s efforts to expand access to essential health services, including through the Free Primary Healthcare Initiative.
The SOCO Project, represented by its Zonal Coordinator, Mr Samuel Agyarko Larbi, also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting development interventions in the district and called on residents to protect and maintain the facilities to ensure their long-term benefits.
The commissioning of the two CHPS compounds marks a significant step towards bringing healthcare closer to communities in Bolgatanga East, with residents being encouraged to take full advantage of the facilities and work together with health authorities to ensure their effective utilisation.
