Speaking to the BlueWaves Radio News team, Ing. Ishmael Ben Kwofie, Area Engineer for the Upper East and North East Regions, explained that the increasing incidents of cable theft are seriously disrupting the company’s activities and power distribution services in the region.
The NEDCo again appealed to residents of the Upper East Region to bear with them as they are taking repaid steps to resolve issues of frequent power outages and low current
The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has attributed the situation to a number of operational and technical challenges affecting power distribution in the region.
Speaking in an interview with the BlueWaves Radio News team, the Area Engineer for the Upper East and North East Regions, Ing. Ishmael Ben Kwofie, acknowledged the challenges being experienced by customers and assured residents that the company was working tirelessly to address the situation.
According to him, some of the outages and low current experienced in communities are linked to faults on distribution lines, ageing infrastructure, and technical disruptions within parts of the power network. He explained that such faults sometimes lead to temporary interruptions while engineers work to identify and repair the affected systems.
Ing. Kwofie noted that the company has deployed technical teams across several districts in the region to respond promptly to reported faults and restore electricity supply to affected communities.
He further appealed to customers to remain patient as engineers continue to undertake repair works and maintenance activities aimed at stabilising power supply across the region.
The Area Engineer assured the public that NEDCo remains committed to improving electricity service delivery and is implementing measures to reduce outages and improve voltage levels for customers.
He encouraged residents to report faults promptly to NEDCo offices to enable technical teams to respond quickly and restore supply where necessary.
Despite the challenges, Ing. Kwofie emphasised that the company is determined to ensure reliable electricity supply to support economic activities, small businesses and social services in the Upper East Region.
