Adongo Defends Grinding Mill Initiative, Insists Projects Reflect Community Needs

The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has defended his decision to provide grinding mills to several communities, stressing that his development interventions are guided by the expressed needs of his constituents.

The lawmaker made the remarks after inspecting a number of projects across the constituency, including schools, health facilities, police stations, and community-based infrastructure. During the tour, he also handed over grinding mills to some beneficiary communities—an intervention that has since generated mixed reactions among sections of the public.

While some critics have questioned the relevance of grinding mills in modern development priorities, Mr. Adongo maintained that such views overlook the realities on the ground. According to him, the initiative was not arbitrary but a direct response to demands from the people.

“I listen to the concerns of my constituents before I act. The grinding mill is one of the things some communities genuinely need, and I will always respond to such needs,” he stated.

The MP emphasized that his leadership approach is rooted in consultation and responsiveness, rather than imposing projects on communities without their input. He argued that development must be context-specific, reflecting the everyday challenges faced by the people.

In further defence of the initiative, Mr. Adongo pointed out that similar interventions have been undertaken by other prominent political figures, underscoring the continued relevance of such facilities in many communities.

“Even Mahamudu Bawumia, who aspires to lead this country, has commissioned a grinding mill before. Samuel Abu Jinapor has done same. I have never been a minister, but if this is what my people need and I provide it, what is wrong with that?” he quizzed.

Mr. Adongo reiterated his commitment to people-centred development, noting that he will continue to prioritise interventions that directly improve the daily lives of his constituents, regardless of public criticism.
