The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo, has embarked on an inspection of several completed development projects in Sumbrungu, reaffirming his commitment to improving livelihoods through community-driven interventions.
The projects inspected include a newly constructed kindergarten block and maternity facility at Anateem, a police station, and a culvert at Amogrebisi. The MP also toured a number of grinding mills established across the area. According to him, 15 grinding mills have been installed in Sumbrungu alone, with additional units distributed across other parts of the constituency.
In the water sector, Mr. Adongo revealed that he has so far facilitated the construction of 10 boreholes in the Sumbrungu area, with plans to increase the number to 105 across the constituency by the end of his third term in office.
Speaking to the media on the first day of a four-day project inspection tour, the outspoken legislator highlighted efforts to address accommodation challenges facing health professionals in the municipality. He disclosed that he has rented two residential facilities for doctors posted to the Bolgatanga Municipality, with plans underway to construct permanent housing for them.
“You may recall that the Health Minister recently raised concerns about doctors who had been posted here but lacked accommodation and were considering leaving. I have since rented two houses for them, but going forward, I intend to put up permanent structures to house doctors working in the constituency,” he said.
On agriculture, the MP announced plans to roll out a grassroots integrated agricultural programme aimed at supporting farmers and boosting local food production. The initiative will involve the provision of five tractors to assist smallholder farmers, as well as support for aquaculture through the supply of fingerlings, feed, and the construction of fish cages.
“This year, we are introducing a grassroots integrated agricultural project to respond to challenges in vegetable farming and aquaculture in Bolga. We will construct cages, provide fingerlings and feed, and also bring in five tractors to support land preparation for poor farmers,” he stated.
Mr. Adongo emphasized that his approach to leadership is rooted in addressing the real needs of his constituents rather than making empty promises.
“I do not make promises. I engage the people to understand their needs and work towards addressing them. At Anateem, for instance, the community requested a kindergarten and maternity block. I engaged contractors, gave them a three-month timeline, and the projects have been completed. What remains now is furnishing them for use,” he added.
