Upper East’s 10-Year Development Plan Deserves Collective Support – Michael Nangena

The Talensi Constituency Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and member of the party’s Upper East Regional Communications Team, Michael Nangena, has lauded the Upper East Regional development plan

10-Year Regional Development Plan, describing it as a bold and strategic roadmap capable of transforming the economic fortunes of the region.

Speaking on *BlueWaves Breakfast Show, Mr. Nangena praised the *Prosperity through Enterprise, Agriculture, Resilience and Livelihood (PEARL) Framework, which is designed to attract investors, stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities and improve the livelihoods of residents across the Upper East Region.

According to him, the long-term development strategy has the potential to change the economic narrative of the region by positioning the Upper East as an attractive destination for both local and foreign investment.

Mr. Nangena noted that the PEARL Framework provides a clear vision for harnessing the region’s enormous potential in agriculture, agribusiness, trade, tourism, manufacturing and entrepreneurship, while creating an enabling environment for sustainable development.

He commended the leadership of the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council for initiating a development agenda that places emphasis on private sector participation and investment-driven growth, saying such an approach is essential for addressing unemployment and reducing poverty in the region.

The NDC communicator, however, stressed that the success of the development plan would depend on the collective support of all stakeholders, irrespective of their political affiliation.

He therefore appealed to political parties, traditional authorities, the business community, civil society organisations and development partners to rally behind the initiative and avoid politicising programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

According to Mr. Nangena, regional development should remain a shared responsibility rather than a partisan issue, as the benefits of the plan will ultimately accrue to all residents regardless of their political beliefs.

He urged political actors to place the long-term interests of the Upper East Region above partisan considerations and work together to ensure the successful implementation of the development agenda.

Mr. Nangena expressed optimism that if the PEARL Framework is implemented effectively and receives the necessary support from all stakeholders, it will attract significant investments, boost local businesses, create sustainable jobs and position the Upper East Region as one of Ghana’s emerging centres for economic growth and industrial development.

His comments come on the heels of the Upper East Regional Development Planning and Business Forum and Exhibition held in Bolgatanga, where government officials, investors, business leaders and development partners discussed strategies for unlocking the region’s economic potential through the Prosperity through Enterprise, Agriculture, Resilience and Livelihood (PEARL) Framework. The initiative seeks to provide a long-term blueprint for inclusive and sustainable development while making the region more competitive for investment.
