Alexis Adugdaa Ayamdor, a veteran administrator and development professional has formally declared his intention to contest the position of Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region.
In a press release issued on 21 September 2026 and addressed to the NDC family and media houses, Ayamdor said he was making the decision “after careful reflection and extensive consultations.”
“I respectfully declare my intention to contest the position of Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Upper East Region,” the statement read.
Ayamdor, who described himself as an aspiring Regional Secretary, highlighted more than two decades of experience in governance, education, international development, project management, administration and community mobilisation. He said he was offering himself to serve the party “with competence, commitment and humility.”
His public and professional service record includes roles as District Chief Executive of the Bongo District Assembly, Programme Management Specialist and Northern Sector Office Coordinator for USAID, Programme Officer with Catholic Relief Services, Programme Facilitator for the IBIS Public Participation in Local Governance project, Community Empowerment Programme Officer for TrAX-Ghana, and positions with the ECOWAS Parliament and Commission. He has also served as a Pupil-Teacher in Bongo and currently works as Industrial Liaison Officer at Bolgatanga Technical University.
On the grassroots political front, Ayamdor listed experience as a Unit Committee Member, elected Assembly Member, Presiding Member, Branch Secretary, Constituency Campaign Team Member, member of the Bongo Constituency Fundraising Committee for the 2024 elections, Regional Team-Lead of the former MMDCE’s Forum, and current Secretary to the Constituency Council of Elders, Bongo.
If elected, he pledged to strengthen party structures, improve communication and coordination, deepen grassroots mobilisation, promote unity and discipline, increase the participation of women and young people, enhance election preparedness, and promote accountability and effective administration.
“I present myself as a team player, listener, organiser and servant-leader, ready to work with Regional and Constituency Executives, Branch Executives, elected representatives, former leaders, cadres, women, youth and the entire membership of our great Party,” he stated.
Ayamdor concluded by calling for a more united, organised, disciplined, accountable, innovative, responsive and grassroots driven NDC in the Upper East Region, and appealed for the support, encouragement and prayers of party members.
The declaration carries the party’s core themes of unity, organisation, discipline, accountability, communication, innovation and grassroots mobilisation.
