Caroline Kurugu Pledges Humility, Unity and Empowerment for Regional Women’s Wing

Caroline Kurugu has outlined a vision centred on humility, unity, service, inclusiveness and capacity building as she addressed the regional women’s wing.
Speaking on Bluewaves Breakfast Show, Kurugu said she had come to serve the women of the region. “I am naturally a humble person, and I believe that to bring together all categories of women rich and poor, businesswomen, intellectuals, and every other group you need humility and patience. That is the spirit I bring,” she stated.
She placed strong emphasis on unity and togetherness. Kurugu said every branch would submit its annual activity plan to the constituency women’s wing, which would then present it at the regional level. The region would then coordinate and follow through the programme. She proposed activities that would bring women from different areas, including Channapada and Tempani, together. “If we continue in humility, that will create togetherness; togetherness will create unity; and once there is unity, we will be able to forge ahead,” she said.
On service, Kurugu pledged to ensure smooth information flow from the national level down to the branches. Working with her deputies, she said she would remain active and energetic in ensuring the wing meets its obligations.
She also stressed inclusiveness, declaring that the wing would not divide women according to who supported her candidacy. “Once you voted for the NDC and you are part of NDC Women, we will work with you inclusively. Everyone’s voice counts and matters,” she said.
Capacity building formed a major pillar of her agenda. Kurugu noted that many women in the wing are intelligent and capable but need support. Plans include training in communication skills to equip women to speak for themselves and appear on radio programmes, leadership skills development, and education on the party’s constitution and policies so members understand available channels and benefits.
“That is the kind of leadership I bring: humility, unity, service, inclusiveness, and empowerment,” Kurugu concluded.
