The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged party members to act in ways that will strengthen public confidence and enable the party to remain in power for an extended period.
Addressing supporters during the party’s ongoing “Thank You Tour,” Mr. Asiedu Nketiah emphasized the need for patience and long-term thinking, cautioning against the desire for immediate personal gains.
“We must focus on actions that will help us maintain the trust of Ghanaians so we can stay in power longer and benefit gradually over time,” he stated.
He warned that the pursuit of quick rewards from political office could jeopardize the party’s future prospects.
“If we try to take everything within a short period—one, two, or three years—we risk facing the same outcome as those who came before us,” he cautioned.
According to him, the NDC is currently in a strong position to govern for a prolonged period, provided members remain united, disciplined, and strategic in their approach.
“We have the opportunity to stay in power much longer if we organise ourselves well. We must not lose this chance, and we need to proceed with caution,” he added.
The “Thank You Tour” forms part of a nationwide effort by the party to express appreciation to voters and also account for its performance since returning to office.
While addressing supporters in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah further indicated that the administration of John Dramani Mahama is managing the economy prudently, noting that nearly 18 months into office, the government has not been hit by any major scandals.
