Friends of Prosper Support Nearly 3,000 BECE Candidates with Free Mathematical Sets in Bolgatanga

A social and political group in the Bolgatanga Constituency, Friends of Prosper, has undertaken a major educational intervention aimed at supporting candidates preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The group recently distributed mathematical sets to a total of 2,996 candidates drawn from 88 public and private schools across the constituency, in a move designed to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians while ensuring that no student is left disadvantaged during the examination period.

The initiative, according to the group, forms part of its broader mission to support the less privileged and promote equal opportunities within the education sector. By providing essential examination materials, Friends of Prosper seeks to eliminate barriers that often prevent students from fully participating in their final basic school examinations.

Beneficiary schools included notable institutions such as Zaare Preparatory School and Great Victory Academy, among many others spread across the municipality.

Speaking on the significance of the exercise, representatives of the group indicated that the gesture goes beyond the mere distribution of learning tools. They explained that it is also intended to boost the confidence of candidates, motivate them to strive for academic excellence, and ultimately contribute to improved educational outcomes in the constituency.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background,” a representative noted. “By equipping these candidates with the necessary tools, we are not only supporting their immediate examination needs but also investing in their future.”

Education stakeholders and community members have lauded the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, especially at a time when many households continue to face economic challenges. They expressed hope that such interventions would be sustained and expanded to cover other critical needs within the education sector.

The distribution exercise underscores the growing role of community-based organizations in complementing government efforts to improve education delivery in Bolgatanga.

As the BECE approaches, beneficiaries of the programme are expected to head into the examination halls better prepared and more confident, thanks to the support extended by Friends of Prosper.
