Fidelis A. Akanyani Declares Bid for NDC Upper East Regional Treasurer

Upper East Region, Ghana — Fidelis A. Akanyani has officially declared his intention to contest the position of Upper East Regional Treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), pledging to promote financial discipline, transparency, accountability and sustainable resource mobilisation if elected.

In his declaration, Mr. Akanyani described his decision as a further opportunity to serve a party to which he has remained committed over the years.

He said his involvement with the NDC dates back to his school days and has extended through the constituency, regional and national levels, giving him the opportunity to work with party members and structures across different levels.

“I am here once again to offer myself to serve you and the Party,” he said.

Mr. Akanyani said his vision for the office is anchored on integrity, efficiency and accountability, stressing the need for sound financial management to support the effective functioning of the Party.

According to him, should he be given the mandate, he will work towards strengthening financial management systems within the regional structure, with emphasis on transparency in the handling of Party resources.

He also pledged to promote timely and accurate financial reporting, noting that effective financial administration requires proper records, accountability and responsible management of resources.

Focus on Resource Mobilisation

A major component of Mr. Akanyani’s agenda is resource mobilisation.

He said he would explore sustainable avenues for raising resources to support the activities and programmes of the Party at the regional, constituency and branch levels.

He believes the financial strength of the Party should be built on trust and accountability, as well as the collective commitment of its members, supporters and other stakeholders.

“Our financial strength must be built on trust, accountability and the collective commitment of party members and supporters,” he stated.

Mr. Akanyani further expressed his belief that a properly managed financial system would enable the Party to better plan and execute its programmes while ensuring that available resources are utilised for their intended purposes.

Commitment to the Grassroots

The aspiring Regional Treasurer also highlighted the importance of strengthening the financial capacity of the Party’s structures at the grassroots.

He said resources must support the work of the Party not only at the regional level but also at the constituency and branch levels, where much of the Party’s organisational activities take place.

He therefore called for a collective approach to financial management and resource mobilisation, involving party executives, delegates, members and supporters.

Call for Support

Mr. Akanyani has consequently appealed to the rank and file of the NDC, delegates, executives, activists and supporters across the Upper East Region to support his candidature.

He said his ambition is ultimately aimed at contributing to a stronger and more financially organised Party in the region.

“Together, we can build a financial system that supports the work of the Party and ensures that resources are used effectively for the benefit of the NDC in the Upper East Region,” he said.

Mr. Akanyani is campaigning under the theme:

“Leadership with Integrity, Efficiency & Accountability.”
