Hon. Isaac Adongo Launches Free Tractor Ploughing Initiative to Support Vulnerable Farmers in Bolgatanga Central

Bolgatanga, Ghana – In a significant move aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and improving livelihoods in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has launched a free tractor ploughing initiative for vulnerable and underprivileged farmers.

The intervention, which officially commenced in the Sumburungu Zone, forms part of the MP’s broader commitment to supporting local farmers and enhancing food security across the constituency during the ongoing farming season.

Recognizing the financial challenges many farming households face in preparing their lands for cultivation, Hon. Adongo has deployed tractors to provide free ploughing services to needy farmers, ensuring that limited resources do not hinder agricultural activities. The initiative is expected to reduce the cost burden associated with land preparation while encouraging increased participation in farming.

Speaking ahead of the commencement of the exercise, Hon. Adongo underscored the critical role agriculture plays in the socio-economic development of the constituency.

“Agriculture is the heartbeat of our constituency. By supporting our farmers, we are not only securing food for our families but also building a stronger, more self-reliant Bolgatanga Central,” he stated.

The MP noted that empowering farmers remains one of the most effective ways of combating poverty, promoting economic growth, and ensuring sustainable development in rural communities. He emphasized that the programme is specifically targeted at vulnerable households who may otherwise struggle to access mechanized farming services due to high operational costs.

Residents and traditional leaders in Sumburungu have welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and highly beneficial. According to beneficiaries, the free ploughing services will not only ease the burden of land preparation but also enable farmers to cultivate larger acreages, potentially leading to increased harvests and improved household incomes.

Community members praised Hon. Adongo for what they described as a practical demonstration of leadership and concern for the welfare of ordinary citizens. Many expressed optimism that the intervention would contribute significantly to food production within the constituency and beyond.

The tractor ploughing exercise is expected to be extended to several other communities within Bolgatanga Central to ensure that the support reaches farmers across the constituency in a fair and equitable manner.

The initiative adds to a growing list of development interventions championed by Hon. Adongo in areas such as healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and agriculture. It reflects his vision of creating opportunities for all residents, particularly the most vulnerable, while fostering sustainable community development.

Officials have indicated that a detailed movement schedule for the tractors across the various zones and communities will be released in the coming days to guide beneficiaries and ensure smooth implementation of the programme.

As the rains set in and farming activities intensify, the free tractor ploughing initiative is expected to serve as a major boost to agricultural production, offering hope to many farmers and reinforcing efforts to achieve food security in Bolgatanga Central.
