Talensi DCE Reaffirms NDC Loyalty as Asiedu Nketiah Embarks on Upper East Thank-You Tour

The Talensi District Chief Executive, John Millim Nabwomya, has reaffirmed the constituency’s long-standing allegiance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) while outlining ongoing development projects during a visit by the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah is undertaking a two-day thank-you tour of the Upper East Region following the NDC’s victory in the 2024 general elections. The tour includes engagements with chiefs, party supporters, and residents across the region.

His visit to Talensi commenced with a courtesy call on Tongraan Kugblisong Nanlebegtang at his palace in Tongo.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Nabwomya, who also serves as the Talensi NDC Chairman, reiterated government’s commitment to fast-tracking development in the district.

“We have cut sod and commissioned a number of projects, including a 20-bed capacity facility at the Tongo District Hospital and a CHPS compound at Tindongo,” he stated.

He further disclosed that several other projects are nearing completion, including a CHPS compound at Kupieliga, a classroom block at Gatusi, and a three-unit classroom block at Baare.

“We will soon commission these projects to further improve access to healthcare and education in the district,” he added.

Mr. Nabwomya also highlighted ongoing road infrastructure works, noting that new roads have been opened while existing ones are being reshaped to improve transportation within the district.

He used the occasion to commend Mr. Asiedu Nketiah for his leadership, attributing the party’s strong electoral performance in the constituency to his stewardship.

“You led the party to a massive victory—one we have never witnessed in the history of the NDC,” he remarked.

Reaffirming Talensi’s political loyalty, he added, “Since 1992, we have remained committed to the NDC, and we have no doubt that this relationship will continue.”

These sentiments were echoed by the Member of Parliament for Talensi, Daniel Dung Mahama, who assured the party of the constituency’s continued support while appealing for more jobs and infrastructure development.

“Talensi will never turn its back on the NDC,” he said.

In his remarks, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah explained that the tour was primarily to express gratitude to chiefs and communities for their support during the 2024 elections.

“When you ask for support and you receive it, it is only right to return and say thank you,” he noted.

Following his engagement in Talensi, the NDC National Chairman continued his regional tour to Bongo, Nabdam, and Bolgatanga East to further strengthen grassroots connections and reaffirm the party’s presence in the region.
