The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East and Minister for Justice and Attorney General, Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has donated GH¢150,000 to support ongoing inner road construction and road-opening projects within the Bolgatanga East District.
The financial support is expected to strengthen the efforts of the Bolgatanga East District Assembly in improving road infrastructure and accessibility across several communities in the district.
Speaking to the media during an ongoing road-opening exercise, the Bolgatanga East District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Jacob Abugre Aka-Eri, disclosed that the donation from Hon. Dominic Ayine had greatly supported the assembly’s efforts to continue the project.
According to the DCE, the assembly has been able to sustain the ongoing works due to the intervention and commitment of the Member of Parliament toward the development of the district.
“Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine donated GH¢150,000 to support us to continue with the opening of the base, and because of his support, the assembly is able to carry out this work,” the DCE stated.
Hon. Abugre explained that the funds are being used to facilitate the opening of road bases and the construction of inner roads in some communities, a move aimed at improving mobility, accessibility, and economic activities within the district.
The ongoing exercise forms part of the district assembly’s broader initiative to physically open and demarcate roads in several communities to improve transportation and ensure orderly development.
District authorities say many roads captured in official planning layouts had not been physically opened for years, resulting in encroachment and difficulties in accessing some areas.
The assembly believes the road projects will not only improve movement between communities but also create opportunities for future infrastructure development and investment across the district.
Residents in some affected communities have welcomed the initiative and expressed optimism that the intervention will help reduce transportation challenges, especially during the rainy season.
Hon. Dominic Ayine has over the years championed infrastructure development in the Bolgatanga East Constituency, with road improvement remaining one of the major priorities aimed at enhancing the living conditions of residents.
